GWM has released teaser images of an all-new hybrid SUV that sits on a platform the brand is calling “One”.
Measuring over 5.3-metres long, this SUV is more akin to the large American vehicles we’ve seen over the decades than what we’ve come to expect from China.
Though it is yet to be confirmed, speculation points to this three-row SUV eventually being released under GWM’s Wey badge, which is the most high-end in its stable.
It was also confirmed this SUV would be using a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system.
The peak combined output of this system is tipped at 270kW, or enough to send it to 100km/h in 4.4-seconds.
The 800-volt architecture allows for extremely fast charging, and the electric range is listed at 363km. In hybrid mode, a range of 1393km is reportedly available.
Alongside detailing this new SUV, GWM also shared details of the ‘One’ platform, which is set to eventually underpin more than 50 models globally.
This platform can reportedly support a variety of powertrains, including a diesel hybrid, which could make it into a ute at some point.
GWM has also stated that it could be used with a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain.
AI will handle the majority of internal processes, including the powertrain management, charging, and infotainment.
It is unclear as to exactly when this large SUV will be revealed in full, or when it will go on sale.
Information released by GWM suggests we can expect to see it go on sale in China in 2027, and we can assume global sales will commence after this.
