Tony Stark’s one-off Acura NSX Roadster is heading to auction
Words: Andrew Sluys
A convertible Acura NSX driven by Tony Stark (or Ironman) in 2021’s The Avengers is set to be sold via online auction.
Known for being a loyal Audi fan, driving an R8 in both Ironman instalments, Tony Stark’s transition to Acura was unexpected.

We like to think it was a decision made by the billionaire tech guru, but there’s no denying a sponsorship deal was behind it.
As Honda (or Acura) was yet to release the second-generation NSX, this was labelled a concept car for the movie’s appearance.
Little did we know at the time that this would not only be the basis of the revived NSX, but also be the only drop-top built.

It was also later revealed that while it wears second-generation bodywork, it was built upon the chassis of a first-generation NSX.
A two-inch suspension drop, new 18-inch wheels, and a pair of racing seats complimented the new body nicely, and had us all fooled.

Speaking on the creation at the time, Acura Creative Director Dave Marek was excited to get a functioning vehicle in the movie.
“We knew it would have to be a reliable vehicle for filming, not just a static display, and we couldn’t come up with anything that would be more reliable than an original Acura NSX.”
If you’re looking to get your hands on this piece of Honda history, it is set to be auctioned via the Cars and Bids website.
It will be sold following its appearance at the Sundance film festival, with all proceeds going to a charity of the buyer’s choice.
