Genesis has used its time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans to unveil a pair of very exciting machines; the Magma GT and Magma GT3.
Though this isn’t the first time we have seen the Magma GT concept, this version has undergone some significant updates.
It follows the classic supercar formula with a low-sling body, dramatic styling, and an engine mounted behind the passenger compartment.
On the inside, its diamond stitched upholstery says elegance, whilst the circular instrumentation harks back to simpler times.
Despite featuring an automatic transmission, the gated shifter is another interesting touch that gives the GT some charm.
While the road-going Magma GT is Genesis’ vision of luxury and athleticism on the road, the GT3 is a more hard core offering.
As you’d expect, it forgoes all the luxuries of the GT for lightweight performance, and this is clear from the exterior.
It wears a massive rear wing, and a huge diffuser. It also gets centre lock wheels, and plexiglass windows.
It’s hard not to see a bit of Ferrari 296 in it, especially considering how it will likely end up racing in the same class.
Though details of the Magma GT’s powertrain haven’t been officially released, it is rumoured to be powered by some sort of V8 engine.
Given the popularity of twin-turbo V8s in modern performance cars, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it paired with one, and a hybrid system.
Though no word has been given regarding production timing, a report from Drive claims the President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D division said it’s going to be produced.
