Hyundai Tucson recalled in New Zealand over faulty cluster
Words: Andrew Sluys
Hyundai New Zealand has issued a recall for the Tucson SUV, due to a digital cluster that may stop working.
It relates to the Tucson (NX4) Series II, manufactured during model years 2023 ~ 2026.
The recall notice posted to the brand’s local website describes how the loss of information while driving may pose a safety risk to drivers.
“This recall relates to a potential software issue with the vehicle’s Digital Instrument Panel Cluster (DIPC) & Head-up Display (HUD), whereby some driver information, such as visual vehicle speed, fuel level and other critical safety information may fail to correctly display or could flicker while displayed.
“A loss of these safety system warnings and information while driving could increase the risk of an accident, potential injury to the vehicle occupants and/or increase the risk to other road users and bystanders.”
According to the notice, a total of 431 SUVs are affected by the recall locally, and owners are encouraged to get in touch with their local Hyundai dealer.
The fix involves updating the software that powers the cluster.
