Hyundai announces pricing for new Palisade hybrid

Words: Andrew Sluys

Hyundai New Zealand has announced pricing and specification for the new Palisade hybrid SUV.

Starting at $129,990, this Palisade represents the brand’s flagship SUV offering in the petrol hybrid segment.

Hyundai will be offering just one Palisade variant locally, with the Calligraphy Hybrid representing the range.

It’s clear Hyundai is looking to make an impression with the new Palisade, just from its styling. It blends a large front grille with futuristic box-like details on the front fascia.

Beneath this intense aesthetic, the Palisade makes use of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that’s paired with an electric motor.

This combination produces 245kW and 460Nm, which is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission to the Palisade’s all-wheel drive system.

Hyundai claims a combined 7.6L/100km fuel economy, which is an improvement over the 8.4lL/100km offered by the previous diesel engine.

On the inside, this Palisade is offered as standard with eight seats, but it can also be had with seven. With the $1,000 seven seat option selected, it gets a pair of captains chairs in the second row.

It gets a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital cluster. There’s also a 12-inch heads-up-display projected to the windscreen.

The lack of gear selector on the centre console has reportedly made way for a wireless phone charging pad and USB outlets.

Hyundai also notes that this new Palisade is capable of vehicle-to-load power sharing on the inside for an “EV-like experience.”

As for luggage space, there are 348-litres with all three rows of seating in place, and this jumps to 729-litres with the third row folded.

The new Palisade is also rated to tow up to 2-tonnes braked.

Hyundai New Zealand expects deliveries of the updated Palisade to kick off in Autumn this year.
