Leapmotor recently took the covers off its new B03 electric hatchback, which will likely join the brand’s New Zealand offering at some point.

Though local availability is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed for the UK in early 2027, which confirms right-hand drive production.

The new B03 measures at 4175mm long, 1790mm wide and 1560mm tall, on a 2605mm wheelbase. This puts it right on par with the likes of GAC’s Aion UT, or the BYD Atto 1.

We can imagine it will be priced in the $30,000 to $35,000 range if it does make it to New Zealand, putting it squarely up against those aforementioned Chinese hatches.

The B03 is available in its home market with either a 39.8kWh battery, or a larger 53kWh unit.

Leapmotor’s European arm claims a WLTP driving range of up to 390km or the B03.

It uses either a 70kW or 90kW electric motor on the front axle, although export market cars will likely benefit from increased power.

Leapmotor claims the larger battery is able to be charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in just 16 minutes.

On the inside, it gets a 14.6-inch infotainment display, and a smaller digital cluster positioned behind the steering wheel.

There’s also synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power tailgate, and fold-down table on for the second row.
