Alfa Romeo has offered an early glimpse of a new SUV set to join its global line-up, confirming another crossover is on the way before the long-awaited replacement for the Stelvio arrives.
The teaser was revealed by Stellantis Chief Operating Officer Emanuele Cappellano during Italy’s National Automotive Industry Roundtable, with the single image previewing a sleek new C-segment SUV that will sit between the current Tonale and the next-generation Stelvio.

Unlike the upcoming Stelvio replacement, which will be based on Stellantis’ larger STLA Large architecture, the new model will ride on the group’s STLA Medium platform. That same architecture already underpins a growing number of Stellantis products, including the latest Jeep Compass and Peugeot 3008.
While Alfa Romeo has yet to reveal dimensions or a model name, the newcomer is expected to occupy the heart of the competitive medium SUV segment. It is unlikely to slot below the Tonale, given Alfa already offers the smaller Junior crossover in Europe.
The company has confirmed the new SUV will be offered with a choice of electrified powertrains, including mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric variants. Which of those powertrains ultimately reach markets such as New Zealand remains to be seen.
Although only a small portion of the vehicle has been shown, the teaser reveals a coupe-inspired rear profile with a sharply raked tailgate, suggesting Alfa Romeo is continuing its focus on sporting design. The styling has been developed by the brand’s Centro Stile design team in Turin, Italy.
Production is scheduled to begin at Alfa Romeo’s Melfi factory in Italy during the fourth quarter of 2027.

The announcement also provides some insight into Alfa Romeo’s broader product plans. The current Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV are expected to remain in production until 2027, when both are due to be replaced. The Tonale, which recently received a mid-life update, could also be nearing the end of its lifecycle around the same time.
Alongside the SUV teaser, Alfa Romeo also confirmed it is working with fellow Stellantis brand Maserati on a new Bottega Fuoriserie project. While details remain under wraps, the collaboration is expected to result in a limited-production sports car showcasing the two Italian brands’ design and craftsmanship.
With the premium SUV market continuing to grow, the new model will give Alfa Romeo another contender in one of the industry’s most competitive segments. However, enthusiasts will likely be watching just as closely for the arrival of the next-generation Stelvio and Giulia, which remain central to the Italian marque’s sporting identity.
