DBX GT under blue skies in a driveway

Aston Martin DBX GT puts comfort first without cutting power

Words: Kyle Cassidy

Aston Martin has added a more comfort-focused model to its SUV range, with the new DBX GT retaining the DBX S’s 535kW twin-turbo V8 while introducing softer seating, a quieter cabin and revised suspension tuning.

The GT joins the performance-focused S, giving buyers a choice of character rather than simply another step on the power ladder. First deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, although the announcement doesn’t include New Zealand pricing or a local arrival date.

“DBX GT is aimed at customers who prefer assured elegance over sporting aggression and demand a higher degree of luxury. By refining the visual drama and elevating the interior with new elements of craftsmanship, the DBX GT delivers a true ultra-luxury experience; one which comes with no sacrifice in performance,” said Aston Martin chief executive Adrian Hallmark.

Same punch, smoother delivery

The GT shares the DBX S’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 535kW at 6250rpm and 900Nm from 3000–5250rpm. Aston Martin quotes 0–100km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 310km/h.

Power goes through a nine-speed automatic with a wet clutch. For the GT, throttle response and transmission calibration have been revised to make low-speed driving and gear changes smoother while retaining full-throttle performance.

There’s also a dedicated exhaust tune intended to remove harsh metallic frequencies. GT mode keeps the soundtrack more discreet, with Sport and Sport+ restoring a louder voice.

The chassis changes focus on filtering out road imperfections. Revised dampers use a new internal valve system to reduce vibrations from coarse surfaces and rumble strips, while retaining body control during harder driving.

Triple-chamber air suspension and 48V active anti-roll control are included. A revised transmission mounting bush and two additional dampers between the body and rear subframe are intended to improve composure over larger bumps and compressions.

Standard 22-inch wheels wear Pirelli Scorpion Zero all-season tyres, chosen with ride comfort and road noise in mind. Optional 23-inch wheels are available for buyers wanting a different look or tyre specification.

Carbon-ceramic brakes remain standard, with 420mm front and 390mm rear discs. The GT also shares the DBX S’s quicker steering ratio and has a 12-metre turning circle.

More cushioning, less noise

Both front and rear seats have been redesigned, with revised bolsters and a 10mm memory-foam layer added to the cushions.

The rear bench features two more distinctly sculpted outer seating positions, with extended headrests and bolsters, while retaining space for three passengers. The DBX GT remains a five-seater with a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat.

Semi-aniline leather, GT-specific quilting, perforation and embroidery give the cabin its own treatment. Aston Martin says each front seat involves 691 metres of thread, 3297 perforations and more than four-and-a-half hours of craftsmanship.

Additional sound insulation, improved cabin sealing and acoustic laminated rear side glass are designed to reduce road and wind noise. Aston Martin reports a 13 per cent improvement in its Articulation Index, a measure of how easily occupants can hold a conversation while travelling.

A quieter visual statement

Exterior changes include a double-vane grille, revised metal side strakes, body-coloured lower bumpers and sills, and horizontally arranged quad exhaust outlets.

At 5039mm long, the GT retains the DBX’s substantial footprint. The technical specification lists a 2245kg kerb weight, 2700kg braked towing capacity and ground clearance that can rise from 190mm in GT mode to 235mm in its maximum off-road setting.
