Aston Martin has unveiled the Valen, a limited-production V12 supercar with 625kW, a 345km/h top speed and an all-carbon-fibre body.
Described by Aston Martin as the world’s most powerful front-engined production car, the Valen will be restricted to 150 examples globally. First deliveries are scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
The Valen is the latest low-volume creation from Q by Aston Martin, following models such as the Valour, Valiant and DBR22. It was developed with the company’s newly formed Special Vehicle Operations department.
Its name comes from the Latin word ‘valens’, meaning strong or powerful, while also continuing Aston Martin’s tradition of giving its performance models names beginning with V.
V12 delivers 1000Nm
Mounted behind the front axle is a revised version of Aston Martin’s familiar 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12. It produces 625kW at 6500rpm and 1000Nm between 2500 and 5000rpm.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted eight-speed ZF torque-converter automatic transmission and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
Aston Martin has applied shift strategies developed for its Vantage GT4 racer, promising faster and more aggressive gear changes. The company is targeting a 0–100km/h time of 3.1 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 345km/h.
Five drive modes are included: Wet, Sport, Sport+, Track and Individual. Each adjusts the powertrain, steering and chassis settings, with different throttle maps used depending on the selected mode.
“The latest in a bloodline of limited production special series models from our bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin, Valen’s world-beating performance required a design to capture the raw motion and unmatched output of our V12 powertrain. With more power, less weight, and a spectacular soundtrack, the dramatic design is backed up by equally dramatic performance,” said Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark.
The Valen is said to be up to 110kg lighter than Aston Martin’s existing core V12 platform, although its final kerb weight hasn’t been confirmed. Carbon fibre, aluminium, titanium and magnesium are used extensively.
Standard 21-inch magnesium wheels reduce unsprung mass, while an optional lightweight package saves another 16.9kg through aluminium suspension arms and knuckles, along with titanium chassis bolts.
The suspension uses model-specific springs and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, while the rear subframe is solidly mounted to sharpen the car’s responses. Carbon-ceramic brakes measuring 410mm at the front and 360mm at the rear provide the stopping power.
A specially developed titanium exhaust features four outlets, with two permanently open upper pipes and a pair of valved lower outlets. The 3D-printed titanium finishers help save weight, while the system has been tuned to emphasise the V12’s higher-frequency notes.
Carbon body and a new cabin
The Valen’s carbon-fibre body introduces a more angular interpretation of Aston Martin’s traditional long-bonnet proportions.
Slim headlights sit beneath the leading edge of the bonnet, while large functional side vents extract air from the front wheel arches. Sawtooth vortex generators along the side skirts manage airflow beneath the car and help reduce lift.
At the rear, Aston Martin has replaced the conventional back window and bootlid with a solid tailgate incorporating an aerodynamic wing. Despite the unusual arrangement, it opens to reveal 170 litres of luggage space.
The two-seat interior uses a new slim centre console containing 3D-printed components and a switch panel derived from the mid-engined Valhalla. Buyers can choose between Sports Plus seats and lighter carbon-fibre performance seats.
Aston Martin will offer a broad selection of leather, Alcantara, exposed carbon fibre and personalised paint finishes through its Q division. The launch car is finished in Satin Andromeda Red, which shifts between red, copper, gold and blue depending on the light.
With only 150 cars planned, the Valen will sit firmly in collector territory. Exactly how much admission will cost remains the next big question.
