Two Audi Q4 e-trons on the rocks

Audi Q4 e-tron updated

Audi has unveiled a updated Audi Q4 e-tron, enhancing range, charging capability and in-car technology.

The upgraded Q4 e-tron, available in both SUV and Sportback body styles, brings a revised exterior design along with updated lighting signatures and a more advanced interior centred around a revamped digital interface.

According to Audi, the changes are designed to strengthen the model’s appeal as an entry point into the brand’s electric line-up.

“With this product upgrade, the Audi Q4 e-tron is not only more modern and striking in appearance but also impresses with an improved interior”.

More range, faster charging

Efficiency improvements to the electric drivetrain headline the update, with some variants now offering up to 590km of range (WLTP equivalent). Charging performance has also been enhanced, with maximum DC charging capacity increased to 185kW on quattro models.

Under optimal conditions, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in around 27 minutes, while up to 185km of range can be added in just 10 minutes in higher-spec variants. The system also supports battery preconditioning to optimise charging speeds.

Bidirectional charging introduced

A key addition is bidirectional charging, making the Q4 e-tron the first Audi model to support the technology. This allows the vehicle’s battery to supply power to external devices via Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), such as charging e-bikes or other equipment.

In selected markets, the system can also enable Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality, allowing the car to act as an energy storage unit for households – particularly useful when paired with solar power systems.

More practical and capable

Audi has also improved practicality, with towing capacity for quattro models increasing to 1,800kg. Boot space remains competitive at 520 litres, expanding to 1,490 litres with the rear seats folded.

An electric tailgate is now standard, further boosting convenience for everyday use.

Digital-focused interior overhaul

Inside, the Q4 e-tron receives a comprehensive update centred around what Audi calls a new “digital stage”. This includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, with an optional 12-inch passenger display.

The infotainment system has been upgraded with enhanced connectivity, including integration with ChatGPT for more natural voice interaction. Audi’s intelligent assistant can now control vehicle functions and answer queries, while new ambient lighting and redesigned cabin materials aim to lift perceived quality.

Additional features include dual wireless charging pads, each delivering 15W, and a redesigned centre console.

Lighting and design upgrades

Exterior changes include new digital LED daytime running lights with customisable signatures, while second-generation OLED rear lights improve visibility and safety. A proximity warning lighting system has also been added to alert other road users if they get too close to the vehicle.

Availability

Pricing and specification for New Zealand have yet to be confirmed, but the updated Q4 e-tron is expected to reach global markets later this year.
