Nissan’s workshop on wheels

Remember the S-Cargo van with its French look, snail-derived lines and name that was a play on the French word for snail, escargot?

Or the Figaro two-door coupe that had a kind of 1950s British retro look, or the current Cube that owes some of its boxy lines to the hat-shaped Chappo concept that was the third member of a trio with the S-Cargo and Figaro.

Speaking of the Cube, this truck revealed in the USA yesterday looks like a giant panel van version of the minicar.

Meet the NV2500 Concept which Nissan insists is “an original take on commercial vehicle design” that previews the Japanese manufacturer’s 2010 entry into the North American light truck market with vehicles built in Canton, Mississippi. 

Nissan says it has a three-zone interior and flexible utility and storage solutions.

A “wall-less” mobile office/workspace design includes a computer workstation, fold-down conference table, storage compartments, cargo/tool tie-down racks, and an awning-style side panel that opens to create an outside workshop table.
