Words: Kyle Cassidy

Omoda Jaecoo has marked a milestone at Auto China 2026, celebrating more than one million global ‘users’ while unveiling a new hybrid-powered compact SUV.

The brand, launched in 2023 under Chery International, used the Beijing show to debut the Omoda 4 which is said to be a key addition to its expanding global line-up and a preview of its future design and technology direction.

Positioned as a compact, urban-focused SUV, the Omoda 4 was showcased with the company’s SHS-H full hybrid powertrain, signalling a continued push into electrified vehicles. The system was first introduced earlier this year on the Omoda 5, and is expected to play a central role in upcoming models.

Said to be designed with younger, tech-focused buyers in mind, the brand says the Omoda 4 combines sharp, contemporary styling with a strong focus on connectivity and usability. The exterior follows the brand’s ‘art in motion’ design philosophy, while the cabin emphasises integrated digital displays and intuitive interfaces aimed at delivering a seamless user experience.

Advanced driver assistance systems and connected technologies are also key features, reinforcing the brand’s focus on innovation-led mobility.

While the Omoda 4 has been confirmed for global markets, so we can probably expect it here at some point.

The Beijing showcase also doubled as a celebration of Omoda and Jaecoo’s rapid growth, with the company surpassing one million users worldwide in just a few years. To mark the occasion, the brand created an immersive, music-led experience on its show stand, designed to connect with a younger global audience.

Adding to the futuristic theme, robots developed in collaboration with the AiMOGA Robotics team were deployed to interact with visitors, demonstrating the brand’s focus on combining technology, culture and customer engagement.

Further celebrations are planned, with the company announcing an Omoda Global Music Festival set to take place at its headquarters in Wuhu, China. The event will blend live performances, interactive experiences and technology showcases as part of a broader push to build a global user community.

Gary Lan said the milestone reflects the brand’s rapid rise and future ambitions.

“Reaching one million users globally is a defining moment for Omoda and Jaecoo and a proud achievement for everyone connected to the brand,” he said.

With strong growth in key markets and a clear focus on electrification and digital integration, Omoda and Jaecoo’s latest concept and milestone underline its intent to become a significant player in the global automotive landscape.
