A sequel to F1: The Movie has been confirmed for the silver screen, according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
In an interview with the BBC at an Academy Awards event in Los Angeles, Bruckheimer revealed that filming on the project had already commenced.

While no information was shared regarding the timeline or casting of the movie, it’s clear that it is well underway.
Brad Pitt’s return to the franchise is quite likely, given his starring role as Sonny Hayes in the first instalment.
It’s little surprise to hear the F1 movie is getting a sequel, considering the success of the first, and the rising popularity of the sport.

It grossed around US$630 million at the box office, and secured four Oscar nominations, including one for best picture.
On the other hand, Formula 1 is more popular than ever, with an estimated 830 million people tuning in internationally to watch each Grand Prix.
This number is growing each year, and productions like this movie alongside Netflix’s Drive to Survive series only help it.
