With its modern take on the famous Le Mans running start and compulsory pit stops for the driver pairings, fans are lured by more than three hours of intense rivalry and gruelling racing on the 4.1km Highlands circuit.

Now armchair fans can experience the thrill and adrenaline from a fresh perspective – with unique videography capturing behind-the-scenes coverage of the highly-restricted race pit. Even being there doesn’t give you this access.

Trass Family Motorsport, New Zealand’s Ferrari racing team, has offered The Tool Co. unprecedented access to its pit crew as it vies with 40-plus cars for the chequered flag.

“Our fans love to know everything about what makes us successful, how we run our finely honed Ferrari through to what tools we use. We wanted to reward their support by giving them something back,” says Armand Le Roux, Trass Family Motorsport Workshop manager and head mechanic.

“There’s no room for weak links in this environment; we trust The Tool Co. to show the pit as it really is, just like we trust them to give us the tools to do our job well.”

High praise from a Formula One veteran who was a key component in the successes of the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.

Highlands 101 will be the first in a series of motor-racing genre in “The Pits”. The “fly on the wall’ documentaries will capture the human story of racing, as well as the technical and mechanical side. Nothing will be out of bounds, including heartbreak if things go wrong, the mechanical workmanship and decision making needed to keep these cars racing at their best.

Other racing genre are being considered that will be covered by seasoned director Blu Steven from Wanted. Each documentary will be available to view free, on The Tool Co’s You Tube channel.

As New Zealand’s premium supplier of British designed and manufactured automotive tools and equipment, The Tool Co. works across a wide range of disciplines and also supplies quality mechanics across the country knowing their products deliver on and off the track.

“We are proud to sponsor Trass Family Motorsport and want them to focus on racing and trust they are getting the best in the business as they vie for racing titles,” says Anne McCarrison, marketing director of The Tool Co. “Off the racetrack, Kiwis can put their trust in us too.”
