Updated LDV T60 gets new diesel engine. Could it come to NZ?
Words: Kyle Cassidy
LDV has given its T60 ute a substantial update, introducing a larger diesel engine, a redesigned front end and a new cabin ahead of its Australian showroom arrival in October.
The refreshed ute could also reach New Zealand, although that depends on LDV securing new local representation. The brand is currently without a New Zealand distributor and is looking for a replacement, leaving local timing, pricing and specifications unconfirmed.

Across the Tasman, the 2027 T60 range has been simplified to two variants, PRO and LUXE, with different rear suspension arrangements separating their working and recreational briefs.
Australian drive-away pricing starts at A$37,990 for Australian Business Number holders, or A$39,989 for private buyers. The LUXE costs A$42,990 and A$45,253 respectively.
Bigger diesel, more pulling power
The updated T60 adopts the same 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel used in LDV’s larger Terron 9.

It produces 163kW at 3800rpm and 520Nm from 1500–2500rpm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Selectable two-wheel drive, high-range four-wheel drive and low range are standard.
Australian combined fuel consumption is rated at 8.0L/100km for the PRO and 8.2L/100km for the LUXE under ADR 81/02 testing. Both have a 73-litre fuel tank.
Braked towing capacity is 3500kg, with a 750kg unbraked rating. The PRO offers a 1040kg payload, while the LUXE is rated at 980kg with its tow bar fitted.

The PRO uses leaf-spring rear suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the LUXE switches to a coil-sprung arrangement, a wider track and 18-inch wheels.
Terron-inspired styling
New bodywork from the windscreen forward gives the T60 a face influenced by the Terron 9. Both grades receive a standard Black Pack, covering the grille, bumpers, handles, roof rails, side steps and mirror caps.
The rear ute body carries over, meaning existing T60 tub accessories will fit the updated model.
Inside, a redesigned dashboard houses a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

The indicator stalk is now on the right-hand side of the steering column, and the gear selector sits on the centre console. Steering-wheel paddle shifters are also included.
Even the PRO gets a heated steering wheel, rear air vents, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, a spray-in tray liner and a damped tailgate.
The LUXE adds artificial-leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and power-folding mirrors. A sports bar, lockable tailgate and tow bar kit are also included.

More standard driver assistance
Both versions feature autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, driver fatigue monitoring and six airbags.
A rear differential lock is standard on the PRO, with the LUXE adding a front locker. Hill descent control operates in four-wheel-drive mode.
