Watch: Forza Horizon finally heads to Japan for its sixth instalment

Forza Horizon has released a trailer for its sixth instalment, and it seems fans’ prayers have been answered, with Japan as its setting.
Set for a May 19 release on Xbox, the game features a Toyota GR GT on the cover — a nod to the game’s setting.
During the launch event, the team from Playground Games went into detail about how there are various biomes to explore, as well as a large Tokyo metropolitan area.
It was also revealed that the Tokyo cityscape is five times larger than any other city that has appeared in a Horizon game.
Players will also be able to visit iconic spots inspired by real-world places in Tokyo such as the C1 loop, Ginkgo Avenue and Daikoku Parking Area.
To get a feel for what the map should offer, many members of the Playground Games team visited the country, and experienced the car culture first-hand.
“It’s easy to think of an authentic space as a recreation of a place, but it’s less about that accuracy, and more about the feel of it,” explained Forza Horizon 6 Design Director Torben Ellert.
“If you think about driving in Tokyo, for example, what does that look like? What are the things that make it feel like this place? You’d see it in the distance from the freeways, before passing through the suburbs, then suddenly you’re downtown, surrounded by skyscrapers.”
Forza Horizon 6 is also set to feature the largest car list of any Horizon game upon launch with 550.
And to be true to Japanese car culture, modifications will be plentiful, with new bodykits and tuning options.
There will also be a more in-depth livery creator with the ability to place decals on windows — something that has been synonymous with drifting for a long time.
