What to expect from the 2022 Paris Motor Show

Words: Harrison Wade

The Paris Motor Show will get underway next week for the first time since 2018 with carmakers set to reveal their latest creations.

Although the event will be somewhat dominated by manufacturers like Renault, Peugeot and Dacia, Chinese brand BYD will be on hand to reveal its foray into the European market. Jeep will also be there with its new Avenger EV.

Let’s have a closer look at what we can expect to see from the brands in attendance.

Alpine

Following the recent reveal of its A110 R, Alpine will be showcasing the car alongside an all-new concept.

In the coming years, we can expect to see a fully electric SUV from the brand alongside another EV based on the Renault 5. At the show however, we’ll be introduced to what Alpine says will “embody the future of its product and sports strategy”.

BYD

Chinese automotive giant BYD will be beginning its push into the European market in the coming months with the likes of its Atto 3, Tang, and Han models set to go on sale.

It’s no surprise then that the second-largest global EV manufacturer will be at the show to give potential buyers a glimpse of what it has to offer.

Dacia

Budget-brand Dacia won’t be presenting any new production cars this year but it will however show off its new brand identity complete with a new logo.

The Romanian carmaker owned by Renault will also debut its rugged-looking Manifesto concept to the public.

Jeep

Smack-bang in the middle of all the European brands is American-based carmaker Jeep, who will be in attendance to display its first ever fully electric vehicle, the Avenger.

The compact SUV is based on Stellantis’ CMP platform (e-CMP for electric models) which also underpins the Peugeot 2008.

Alongside the compact EV SUV will be the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid. The Wagoneer S is also expected to be on display.

Peugeot

Peugeot will be showcasing a ‘first of its kind’ model in the form of its new 408 ‘dynamic fastback’. The model is destined to slot between the 308 and 508 and will get an electric variant in the near future.

Renault

One of the major players at this year’s event is Renault with two throwback concept models set for future production.

We most recently reported that the Renault 4 will make an appearance as one of the aforementioned concept cars with the vehicle set to lay the foundation for a larger production alternative to the brand’s upcoming Renault 5.

Speaking of the R5, a drift/videogame-inspired concept version of the model will also make an appearance.

What else is there to see?

While there will be more manufacturers on hand with new models, this year’s Paris Motor Show is also combined with the Equip Auto trade fair for aftermarket automotive equipment.

The show will get underway from October 17 and finish on October 23.
