BYD New Zealand has announced pricing for the Atto 3 Evo, which is set to arrive at local dealerships later this month.
While not a completely new SUV, the Atto 3 Evo is a significantly updated version of the EV BYD has sold locally since 2022.
Thanks to the new e-Platform 3.0 architecture, this Atto 3 Evo is offered to local buyers with the choice of front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive electric powertrains.
On the outside, this Evo model wears BYD’s new Dragon-face styling. It makes for a more mature looking SUV.
Moving inside, it gets a new column-mounted gear shifter, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, and a wireless phone charger as standard.
There’s also a new Di-Link intelligent connected system, which reportedly makes for a more “intuitive” in-car experience when dealing with technology.
BYD is offering a runout deal on the current Atto 3, at $49,990. This means the new model arrives at a $10,000 premium.
At this price point, the new entry-level Atto 3 is now the same price as an Xpeng G6. The new range-topping Atto 3 Performance model carries a $10,000 premium over the Leapmotor B10 AWD, and is $15,000 more than the MG4 X Power.
Pricing starts at $59,990 for the Atto 3 Dynamic, which is powered by a 60.48kWh BYD Blade Battery.
It can cover up to 420km (WLTP) on a single charge, and uses a single motor on the front axle, producing 150kW/310Nm.
It can be DC charged at a maximum rate of 110kW, and will hit 100km/h from a standing start in 7.3-seconds.
It’s worth noting this powertrain is carried over from the current model, albeit with an improved charging speed.
The next model in the Atto 3 Evo family is the Premium, which starts at $65,990, but features a larger 74.88kWh Blade Battery. This allows for a driving range of 510km (WLTP).
It switches the drive to the rear axle, and the motor produces 230kW/380Nm. This allows for a 0-100km/h time of 5.5-seconds.
Its maximum DC charging rate is 220kW, which means it can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 25 minutes.
The Atto 3 Performance is the range-topping model, which arrives at $75,990.
It uses the same 74.88kWh Blade Battery, but thanks to its all-wheel drive system, maximum range drops to 470km (WLTP).
The dual motor powertrain produces a healthy 330kW/560Nm, which allows it to hit 100km/h in 3.9-seconds.
It features the same 220kW DC charging speed as the Premium, and also takes around 25 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 per cent.
As for braked towing, the Dynamic is rated to 750kg, whilst the Premium and Performance models can haul 1,500kg.
While Ski White is the only colour that does carry a premium, Athene Blue, Harbour Grey, Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey and Parkour Red will all cost an extra $950.
