A bigger version of the BYD Atto 1 complete with a bigger electric motor has been uncovered in China.
Specifications of this new Atto 1 were found in filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Arguably the biggest change is the overall length of the EV, which has grown by 425mm. It also rides on a wheelbase that’s 150mm longer.

All up, the dimensions of this new Atto 1 are 4,205mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,5700mm tall, sitting on a 2,650mm wheelbase.
Though the battery capacity has remained unchanged, it features cells produced by Shaoxing FinDreams Battery Co., Ltd.
There’s a new 95kW motor on the front axle, which is a significant improvement over the 55kW unit in the current Atto 1.
While an acceleration figure for this new motor isn’t provided, BYD claims a top speed of 150km/h.
Aesthetically, this new Atto 1 looks more aggressive than the current model, with angular headlights and a big intake in the front bumper.

It also reportedly gets a bunch of customisation options including new aerodynamic wheels, side-skirt trims and fender badges.
Unlike the current model with seating for four, this larger Atto 1 gets seating for five occupants, with a middle on the rear bench.
Considering this model has just been uncovered in China, any news of it for the New Zealand market will likely be a while away.
