Report: GM cancels plans for electric Corvette sub-brand

Words: Andrew Sluys

Chevrolet has reportedly cancelled plans to build electric SUVs and sedans under a new Corvette sub-brand.

A report first published by GM Authority details the cancellation of these plans, which first came to light back in 2022.

The reports detailed how the Corvette sub-brand would include at least two vehicles to be sold alongside the C8.

These vehicles were tipped to be underpinned by GM’s BEV Prime platform, which will be used by other future high-end EVs.

It remains unclear as to why GM chose to cancel these plans, but the sales performance of the brand’s other EVs likely became a factor.

GM Authority notes that while this spells the end of the Corvette sub-brand, GM is still likely to produce an all-electric Corvette at some point.

Both the E-Ray and the ZR1X are plug-in hybrid versions of the Corvette, and ultise electric power to boost performance.
