Dongfeng has announced plans to expand its New Zealand dealer network to seven retail locations by the end of February.

The Chinese brand is currently sold through Armstrong’s locations in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Takanini Auto Group, Auckland Auto Group (Albany), Waikato Auto Group (Hamilton) and Tauranga Motor Group are all set to join next month.

The announcement of these new locations coincides with the local launch of two Dongfeng models, which expand the line-up to three.

Thanks to its launch price of $37,990, Armstrong’s claim the Vigo compact SUV is the “best value EV” in New Zealand.

It is powered by a 51kWh battery, which offers a driving range of up to 310km, according to WLTP testing.

A maximum charging rate of 167kW is listed with the Vigo, meaning it can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in 18 minutes.

The other recent addition is the 007 sedan, available in long range rear-wheel drive form, or an all-wheel drive variant with impressive performance chops.

Starting at $54,990, the 007 Long Range can cover up to 520km on a single charge, whilst the $59,990 007 Performance model can hit 100km/h in under four seconds.

These models, plus the Box at $29,990 are all available now from Dongfeng retailers around the country.
