Watch: 4-tonne Hummer EV embarrasses supercars whilst filming ad
Words: Andrew Sluys
A Hummer EV has managed to beat out a group of supercars by a significant margin in an ad for its latest iteration.
GMC has released an interesting ad for the new Hummer EV Carbon Fiber Edition, where the pick-up in question is used as the camera car.
It is lined up against a pretty formidable group of performance cars, including a Ferrari F8, a Ford GT, a Porsche Taycan, a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
As a GMC ad, there is obviously going to be bias for the Hummer involved, but it looks to pull away from the group quite convincingly.
Despite being called the ‘Carbon Edition’ this Hummer EV tips the scales around 4-tonnes, especially when loaded up with passengers and camera gear.
Out of the group, the Porsche Taycan and the Ferrari F8 seem to be the most competitive, but they also lose.
It isn’t revealed what specification of Taycan is being used in the race, and the range-topping Turbo GT with its 2.2-second 0-100km/h time would surely monster the Hummer’s 3-second time.
Even still, it’s a very creative ad, and a cool way to show how insane electric performance is.
