While the majority of headlines might surround Lotus’ evolution into a Chinese electric brand, sports cars are still on the menu in some capacity.
The brand’s British arm recently unveiled the Emira 420 Sport, which is the lightest and most powerful Emira ever.

Like the Emira Turbo SE, it uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine from the Mercedes-AMG A45 S.
In this guise, it produces 310kW and 500Nm, which is an increase of 6kW and 20Nm over the standard model.
This is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It has also shed 25kg off the standard model, making it the lightest Emira yet, tipping the scales at just 1,421kg.
As for performance, it will hit 100km/h from a standing start in 3.9-seconds, before topping out at a hefty 300km/h.
It also sports Lotus’ Lightweight Handling Pack, which adds a few aero tweaks to produce around 24kg of extra downforce.

Suspension is handled by two-way adjustable Multimatic dampers, and it also gets a titanium exhaust to let the turbo sing.
Lotus has only announced pricing for the United States, United Kingdom, and European markets for the 420 Sport.
