Words: Andrew Sluys
The Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan has been crowned as the 2026 Car of the Year, with the announcement coming at the Brussels Motor Show.
The CLA managed to score 320 points, which were awarded from 59 jurors across 23 countries.
It also was 100 points clear of the Skoda Elroq, which finished in second position, and over 110 points clear of the Kia EV4 in third.
The Citroën C5 Aircross finished in fourth, the Fiat Grande Panda in fifth, the Dacia Bigster in sixth, and the Renault 4 rounded out the finalists in seventh position.
It’s noted Mercedes hasn’t won European Car of Year in more than 52 years, with its last victory coming in 1974.
Here, the 450 SE/SEL model took the top spot.
