Alongside the new GLE, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated GLS SUV for 2027, which has undergone some significant changes.
As the largest luxury SUV in the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the GLS represents the peak of the brand’s technological prowess in SUV form.

On the outside, there are new headlights, a chrome new grille, and a new illuminated star at the centre.

A panoramic sunroof is standard on the GLS now, which covers over 10.8 square-feet of glass, which is one of the biggest of its kind.
On the inside, the dashboard is completely new, and the MBUX Superscreen display is now standard.

This comprises of three 12.3-inch screens that stretches the width of the dashboard.
The new MB.OS operating system is powered by AI, and will keep all the software up to date over the air.
In the rear seats, buyers can opt for an MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System which will add a pair of 11.6-inch HD displays.

As for the cabin configuration, there’s a choice of six or seven seats, although the GLS has always been a seven-seater in New Zealand.
On the powertrain front, the GLS 450d keeps things relatively unchanged, but a new integrated starter generator improves fuel efficiency.
Mercedes-Benz New Zealand is yet to release any information regarding the arrival of this new GLS, but it will likely be near the end of the year.
