Ariel Motor Company has revealed its most extreme model yet, lifting the lid on the track-focused Ariel Atom 4RR as it celebrates 25 years of the Atom.

Designed as the ultimate expression of the brand’s lightweight, driver-focused philosophy, the Atom 4RR is a road-legal machine built to deliver supercar-rivalling performance on the circuit.

The 4RR is powered by a hand-built 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine derived from a Honda Type R unit, but extensively re-engineered. Producing 525bhp and 550Nm, and revving to 8200rpm, the engine is said to take over 100 hours to assemble and features upgraded internals, a larger turbocharger and race-grade components throughout.

Performance is as extreme as the numbers suggest. Ariel claims a 0–100km/h sprint of just 2.4 seconds, with 0–160km/h dispatched in 5.1 seconds, making it the fastest Atom ever produced.

Despite its circuit focus, the 4RR remains road legal, continuing Ariel’s long-standing philosophy of blending raw driving engagement with real-world usability. Each example will be built to order, with buyers invited to work directly with engineers at the company’s UK factory to tailor their car.

Underpinning the 4RR is a heavily upgraded chassis, featuring a bronze-welded structure for increased strength, paired with fully adjustable Öhlins suspension and an upgraded braking package from AP Racing. Adjustable ABS and a high level of chassis tuning allow drivers to fine-tune the car for different tracks and driving styles.

Ariel has also paid close attention to aerodynamics, with new carbon fibre bodywork and cooling elements designed to increase downforce while maintaining stability at speed. Lightweight construction remains key, with the 4RR said to tip the scales at under 700kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of more than 780bhp per tonne.

Power is sent through a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift to deliver rapid, clutchless gear changes, while three selectable engine maps allow drivers to adjust output depending on conditions or preference.

Inside, the cockpit is purpose-built for performance driving, featuring a motorsport-style TFT display with lap timing and performance data, alongside a stripped-back layout designed to minimise distractions and maximise feedback.

Ariel says the Atom 4RR represents the most uncompromising car it has ever produced, aimed at serious enthusiasts seeking the ultimate track experience. Pricing in the UK starts from £208,000 plus taxes, with production strictly limited and each car uniquely specified.
