The New Zealand government has given an update on fuel stock levels, showing more than 50 days across the three types.
This is made up of a combination of ground stock, stock on the water, and ships expected to arrive in the next few weeks.
With this in mind, there is 59.3 days of petrol, 54.5 days of diesel, and 50.4 days of jet fuel.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment explained in its latest release that the stock levels were “within expectation”.
“Fuel stocks naturally rise and fall each week as fuel is used and new shipments arrive. Current fuel levels are broadly in line with normal levels before recent global disruptions, and fuel supply remains normal,” an MBIE release said.
“There is currently no indication of fuel supply disruption, and fuel continues to flow normally into New Zealand,” the department said.
Prime Minister Christoper Luxon also weighed in on the issue, urging calm among New Zealanders.
“At this point, it’s business as usual,” he told RNZ.
“Please don’t think, ‘It’s Covid 2.0, I’m making sourdough at home again’.”
