The Garage Club – luxury car storage set to open in 2027

-

A new purpose-built luxury vehicle storage concept dedicated to the ownership, preservation and enjoyment of luxury and collector vehicles – The Garage Club – has been announced for Auckland’s Newmarket.

The facility has been designed for collectors, enthusiasts, and investors who understand that how a car is kept is just as important as what it is.

Construction is underway with a planned opening in early 2027. The Garage Club will be built behind the Mini Garage in Newmarket. The building will accommodate around 160 vehicles. With varied membership options available, 140 vehicles will be housed within a high-density stacker system in the main warehouse, with a further 20 across five four-car private garages.

Spanning approximately 1,250 square metres, the building has been carefully designed to support the secure storage and movement of low-clearance and high-value vehicles. The ground level will centre on an expansive warehouse space, entrances to the private garages, all supported by a dedicated detailing bay.

Simon Hull, Co-Founder says: “We know that New Zealand’s luxury and collector car scene is growing, and we are fortunate to have some of the most spectacular roads and landscapes in the world to enjoy these vehicles. We are creating the kind of place we always wished existed. As we move towards opening, we are inviting a limited number of owners to join us and be part of that vision.”

To counter Auckland’s humid climate, environmental conditions have been engineered to ensure the optimal conditions for long-term preservation. Relative humidity will be maintained between 55 and 60 per cent year-round, to combat Auckland’s average humidity of 80 per cent, supported by a positive pressure system designed to minimise dust exposure. A lot of the deterioration you see over time is from moisture, which is why in Auckland especially, controlling humidity isn’t a nice to have, it’s essential. Says Harry Hull, Co-Founder.

The building will incorporate reinforced concrete construction, advanced fire protection systems and comprehensive 24-hour security and alarm monitoring. Ensuring clients’ vehicles are safe. A concierge-led service model will enable managed vehicle movements, trickle charging, and optional routine checks to ensure vehicles are in top condition between drives. EV charging facilities will also be located outside the building.

Alongside world-class storage, The Garage Club offers a private members’ environment for owners who share a passion for driving, design and automotive culture. An upper-level clubroom, bar, and meeting room complement a calendar of events, including private experiences, new vehicle launches, track days and driving tours, something Harry has been organising for a few years already.

The Clubroom also has driving simulators.

The Garage Club is the second of its kind to arrive in Auckland. Last year, we covered Matchbox and its premium storage facility.

Harry Hull, Co-Founder of The Garage Club says: “Securing the Newmarket site was the moment the concept became real for us. From there, we spent a couple of years refining the design and ensuring every element met the standard we believed should be in place. The project has been shaped by a genuine passion for these vehicles and a clear understanding of what high-quality storage should feel like.

We’ve been fortunate to work with Jonathan Walker Architects on the building and Jack McKinney Architects on the interiors, and the result is something I’m genuinely proud of. It’s exactly the kind of place I always wanted to exist.”

Expressions of interest are now being invited for licensed carparks, private garages and participation in the Founders’ rental programme.
