Suzuki V-Strom 1050 Range updated for 2023

Suzuki has expanded its V-Strom 1050 line-up with a flagship RJ model aimed at off-road prowess, featuring a 21-inch spoked front wheel, switchable ABS and a gravel traction control mode. The latter retards ignition timing, allowing slip on unsealed surfaces for greater confidence and added fun factor.

The updated road-oriented model, with 19- and 17-inch cast aluminium wheels and height adjustable screen, is known as the V-Strom 1050RR. It is optimised for adventure touring.

The off-road oriented RJ model also features a longer wheelbase, wider handlebars, steel foot pegs, slower steering geometry, a more robust drive chain, solid-mount seat, aluminium engine protection, new front fender and an equipment protection bar. As befits an off-road offering, it also features additional suspension travel and more ground clearance than the RR. As a result it has an elevated seat height of 880mm versus 855mm for the 1050RR.

A smoke sports windscreen further differentiates the pair. TC can be switched off entirely on both bikes, while each has a bi-directional quickshifter, five-inch TFT screen, improved cruise control, a more natural throttle action, stacked LED lighting, USB/12v charge outlets, and revised first and top gear ratios.

Other items include various ride modes, Suzuki’s one-touch easy-start system, low-rev assist for easy take-offs, a combined braking system and hill holder.

Apart from minor changes, the 1037cc 90-degree V-twin (79kW/100Nm) is carryover.

Both new models are due here in March 2023 when pricing and colour options will be announced. We’d imagine yellow and blue might be on offer.
