Volkswagen has revealed more details about its upcoming compact electric SUV, the Volkswagen ID. Cross, which is scheduled to launch in Europe in late 2026 with a starting price of around €28,000.
Currently appearing as a near-production concept, the ID. Cross is being showcased in Amsterdam wearing a camouflage wrap while the brand continues development ahead of its market debut.

The five-seat model is positioned as an affordable entry point into Volkswagen’s electric range, targeting buyers looking for practical, everyday EV mobility at a more accessible price point.
New design language
The exterior introduces Volkswagen’s latest “Pure Positive” design philosophy, characterised by clean lines, balanced proportions and a refined overall appearance.
Despite its modern styling, the ID. Cross is intended to present a restrained and confident look rather than an overtly futuristic one.

Inside, the cabin follows a similar theme of simplicity and clarity. Volkswagen says the materials and build quality are designed to feel closer to vehicles from higher segments, while a focus on space efficiency ensures the compact SUV retains a practical five-seat layout.
Large digital displays, intuitive controls and straightforward switchgear are also intended to make the interior easy to use in everyday driving.
Multiple power and battery options
Volkswagen plans to offer the ID. Cross with several drivetrain configurations, giving buyers a choice depending on their driving needs.

Three power outputs will be available — 85kW, 99kW and 155kW — paired with two battery sizes of 37kWh and 52kWh (net). According to the brand, the range of configurations will allow the model to cater for drivers who mainly travel in urban areas as well as those making longer trips outside the city.
The ID. Cross will also support DC fast charging at up to 90kW, rising to 105kW when equipped with the larger battery pack.

ID Cross – Expanding the ID electric family
With its compact footprint, practical interior and relatively low entry price, Volkswagen believes the ID. Cross will offer a strong value proposition within the growing electric SUV segment.
The model will eventually join the company’s broader ID. electric lineup, which already includes models such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and Volkswagen ID.4.

Globally, Volkswagen remains one of the largest vehicle manufacturers, producing cars at 28 locations across 12 countries. The company delivered around 4.7 million vehicles in 2025, including approximately 382,000 fully electric models.
The ID. Cross forms part of Volkswagen’s long-term electrification push under its “BOOST 2030” strategy, which aims to position the brand as a leading provider of sustainable mobility.
