Leapmotor has unveiled the D99 at a celebration for the Chinese brand’s 10th anniversary.

Unveiled in both pure electric and range extender variants, the D99 follows the brand’s familiar design language with rounded edges and futuristic lighting.

The electric D99 makes use of 1000V architecture, which is paired with a 115 kWh battery. This is reportedly good for up to 720km of driving range.

The range extender variant has a slightly smaller battery at 80.3kWh, but it is still massive for a hybrid vehicle.

It uses 800V architecture, and pure electric range is reported around the 480km mark.

Details of the petrol engine are still unclear, but it likely uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder, similar to that found in Leapmotor’s C10 EREV.

The interior of the D99 is yet to be shown to the world, but we can imagine it will be a luxury affair, with large screens and a lot of leather.

Considering Zeekr has already launched the 009 locally, other Chinese brands such as XPeng and GAC are soon entering the market with their own MPV offerings, it’s likely that Leapmotor is looking at New Zealand for the D99.

NZ Autocar has reached out to Leapmotor for comment on local D99 availability.
