Mercedes-AMG’s new tri-motor electric SUV probably has more than 2,000Nm 

Mercedes-AMG has teased a new electric SUV with bold new styling cues, and a whole lot of power. 

It follows in the footsteps of the brand’s new GT 4-Door, which was unveiled earlier this year, with mixed feedback on the styling front. 

This new SUV looks to follow in the footsteps of this high-performance electric sedan, and from what we can see from the teaser images, borrow a lot of design points. 

While the car is covered, we can make out a wide grille and a pair of tri-star daytime running lights that sit on either side. 

There’s also exaggerated wheel arches, and an elongated bonnet that runs back to a raked windscreen. 

Where the GT sedan gets six round tail lights, it looks like this SUV will just get a pair of them, flaking the tailgate. 

As for what will power this SUV, it’s highly likely Mercedes-AMG will carry over the same powertrain options as what the sedan has. 

This starts with the 53, which uses a 106kWh battery, and powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system making 400kW and 800Nm. 

Performance for this entry-level model sits at an impressive 3.9-seconds for its 0-100km/h time. 

This model will likely be joined by the full fat 63, which uses three axial flux motors to produce 860kW and 2,000Nm

In the sedan, this allows for a 0-100km/h time of just 2.4-seconds, and we can’t imagine the SUV will be far off this.
