Chevrolet has pulled the covers off the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport, reintroducing a heritage performance badge with a new-generation V8 and an even more powerful hybrid flagship variant.

Sitting between the entry-level Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the track-focused Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the revived Grand Sport aims to strike a balance between everyday usability and serious performance.

At the heart of the new model is General Motors’ next-generation LS6 engine; a naturally aspirated 6.7-litre V8 producing 399kW and 705Nm of torque. The new powerplant will also become the standard engine for the 2027 Stingray, marking a significant step forward for the Corvette range.

Chevrolet says the LS6 features forged internal components, revised exhaust manifolds and a new lubrication system, alongside a high 13.0:1 compression ratio. Power is delivered through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while standard chassis hardware includes Magnetic Ride Control, a touring-focused suspension setup and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tyres.

While official performance figures have yet to be confirmed, buyers will be able to upgrade the Grand Sport with a range of track-focused options. The Z52 Performance Package adds stickier Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and high-performance iron brakes sourced from the Z06, while the more extreme Z52 Track Pack introduces carbon-ceramic brakes, aerodynamic enhancements and track-oriented Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber.

Alongside the standard model, Chevrolet has also introduced a new hybrid variant, the Grand Sport X, which effectively replaces the outgoing Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.

The Grand Sport X pairs the LS6 V8 with an electric motor mounted on the front axle, creating an electrified all-wheel-drive system. Borrowing components from the Corvette ZR1X, the electric motor contributes 138kw and 196Nm of torque, bringing total system output to a substantial 537kW.

That figure not only eclipses the E-Ray by 50kW, but also surpasses the Z06, positioning the Grand Sport X as one of the most powerful Corvettes in the current line-up.

Like its petrol-only sibling, the GSX comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control and rides on all-season tyres, while a Performance Pack upgrades to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber for enhanced grip.

Chevrolet will also offer a limited Launch Edition, distinguished by a Santorini Blue interior with red contrast stitching, embossed headrests and unique badging details.
