Audi New Zealand has confirmed that it is expecting to see the all-new A2 EV land locally in mid-2027.
It has also opened order books, allowing customers to register their interest either through their local dealer or on Audi’s website.
While full pricing and specification is expected to be revealed closer to the arrival date, Audi did confirm a few aspects of the A2’s drivetrain.
It is powered by a 61kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, and confirmed that we will be getting a variant with a 140kW output.
Audi also revealed that thanks to a drag coefficient of 0.24, the A2 is the most efficient model from the European brand to date.
It reportedly achieves “a preliminary energy consumption of 12.8 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometres.”
According to the brand, this is achieved through the use of silicon carbide semiconductors, thinner laminations to reduce iron losses in the electric motor, and a new low-friction oil in the transmission.
With this efficiency figure, and the battery size, we can estimate that the A2 should be able to travel around 470km on a single charge.
Audi also mentioned that the A2 supports both Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home functionality, although they are yet to be confirmed for our market.
