Jaguar’s final petrol-powered car rolls off production line

Words: Andrew Sluys

The final Jaguar that will be powered by an internal combustion engine has rolled off the brand’s production line in Solihull, England.

As a celebration of the brand’s petrol triumphs, the final vehicle was an F-Pace SVR, powered by Jaguar’s iconic 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

It’s worth noting that news of this final production was shared by Jaguar Enthusiast’s Club, not Jaguar itself.

According to the aforementioned Jaguar Enthusiast’s Club, the black SUV was given to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in Gaydon.

Despite ICE-powered production coming to an end, Jaguar has stated it has enough stock of F-Pace SUVs to carry through into 2026.

Owned by Tata Motors, it was announced in 2021 that Jaguar would become an exclusively electric brand.

A number of European brands that occupy a similar upmarket space such as Mercedes-Benz and Volvo followed suit, but have since pushed back on deadlines.

Following a similar theme, the European Union has softened its banning on internal combustion-powered vehicles, allowing them to stay on sale past the initial date of 2035.

By easing the target, the EC has confirmed that hybrid and pure ICE vehicles will still be permitted after 2035, provided manufacturers meet the revised emissions thresholds.

The remaining 10 percent gap must be offset through measures such as the use of biofuels, synthetic e-fuels and low-carbon materials, including European-made “green” steel.

Though Jaguar is yet to unveil its first all-electric model in full, this Type 00 concept has been shown in a variety of forms.

This electric grand tourer measures at 5.4-metres long, and makes use of three electric motors to produce a combined 745kW.

Set to be unveiled within 2025, Jaguar recently announced that the road-going version will be revealed in 2026, with the first models hitting the road in 2027.
