The MGS5 has been given a power and range boost in its range-topping Essence 62kWh model, alongside a $2000 price cut across both variants.
The headline change is a new B-Axial motor for the Essence 62kWh, lifting outputs from 125kW and 250Nm to 151kW and 350Nm. Range improves too, up from 425km to 465km on the WLTP cycle.
A new interior trim for this model is also included in the upgrade.
Despite the extra performance, the Essence 62kWh is now cheaper, with its recommended price dropping to $52,990 plus on-road costs.
The entry-level Essence 49kWh misses out on the powertrain and trim updates but receives the same $2000 reduction, taking it to $46,990 plus on-road costs.
The changes arrive alongside the launch of the new MGS6 EV, a larger and more premium electric SUV priced from $56,990. MG says the pair sit within its most comprehensive EV lineup to date, spanning the MG4 hatchbacks through to the IM6 and Cyberster.
