Audi has confirmed its new electric sports car will be entering production in 2027, which is a lot sooner than most had anticipated.

News of this timeline was shared by CEO Gernot Döllner during the brand’s recent annual conference.

Dubbed the Concept C, it’s clear that this two-door coupe takes a lot of inspiration from the original TT.

Considering it was initially set to be at least two years from production, it’s likely Audi means the end of 2027, but that’s still promising.

Aside from the obvious futuristic exterior aesthetic, the lead designer Massimo Frascella has been very outspoken about how he wants the interior to be.

He’s previously explained how tactile buttons are “very important” to their customers, and “big screens are not the best experience.”

With this in mind, the production version of the Concept C should hopefully do away with important functions buried within screens.

Audi is yet to reveal drivetrain specifications for this coupe, but it’s going to either get a single rear electric motor, or a dual-motor all-wheel drive set-up.

It will reportedly be positioned between the TT and the R8 supercar, meaning we can expect to see proper performance out of it.

It’s also worth noting that both those aforementioned performance machines have now been discontinued, meaning this will serve as somewhat of a replacement.
