Denza confirms 850kW Z9GT for New Zealand
Words: Andrew Sluys
Denza New Zealand has confirmed the Z9GT for New Zealand, putting a third quarter 2026 arrival date on the electric wagon.
Aside from the blistering performance, the biggest news surrounding this Z9GT is that it will be the first BYD vehicle to arrive with the next-generation Blade 2.0 battery.

Thanks to ‘Flash’ charging, this Z9GT will be able to charge at up to 1,500kW, which will make it the fastest charging EV in New Zealand — by a long shot.
At this rate, it should be able to regain “hundreds” of kilometres very quickly, as it charges from 10 to 90 per cent in just nine minutes.

As for its range, it has been rated to around 820km according to WLTC testing.
Thanks to a tri-motor platform, the Z9GT produces a peak power output of 850kW, allowing for crazy performance.
It comes with a 0-100km/h time of just 2.7-seconds, which will make it one of the quickest (if not the quickest) vehicle in New Zealand when it goes on sale.
It also obviously uses an all-wheel drive system, allowing it to put down all that torque in such a short amount of time.

On the inside, the Z9GT continues to impress with a 50-inch AR head-up-display, premium audio, and a built-in fridge.
Denza Australia Chief Operating Officer Mark Harland said the Z9GT lifts Denza on to the
global stage.
“The Denza Z9GT proves that electrification can deliver not just efficiency, but exhilarating
performance, extraordinary safety and genuine long-distance usability.
“New Zealand is a market that demands performance without compromise, and the Z9GT has
been engineered to meet or exceed expectations.”
Pricing and local specification information is set to be revealed closer to the launch later in the year.
